Dr. Kathrin Herrmann holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Freie Universität Berlin and is a veterinary specialist in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics & Law. She is a Senior Associate at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing (CAAT), where she leads the Beyond Classical Refinement and Education programs. Her work focuses on improving the ethical and scientific standards of biomedical research through education, policy, and the development and implementation of innovative, human-relevant research methods. Dr. Herrmann collaborates internationally to advance research practices that are scientifically robust, ethically responsible, and aligned with both animal welfare principles and the goal of improving human health outcomes.
