SBER25 offers not only formal learning but also valuable peer-to-peer exchanges that provide practical insights. This facilitated networking session builds on those conversations by creating a structured space to discuss how institutions interpret and implement key aspects of SBER review. While the Common Rule provides a regulatory framework, institutions often navigate flexible areas differently—resulting in varied approaches. How do others define benign behavioral interventions? What qualifies as “brief”? How is student-led research approached? How are non-exempt studies without continuing review monitored? Participants will break into small groups to discuss 3–5 common SBER topics, then share their findings with the larger group. This session aims to foster shared learning, highlight both differences and similarities, and provide practical takeaways for managing these challenges.
Learning Objectives:
Discuss institutional strategies for addressing common challenges in SBER review through facilitated small group discussions
Evaluate the rationale for various institutional practices to determine if alternative methods might fit your institution’s needs
Establish professional connections with peers from other institutions to facilitate ongoing sharing of policies, procedures, forms, and tools
