B10 - Cultivating a Strong Research Culture

Research organizations often navigate internal tensions between promoting faculty independence and innovation and ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. Balancing these priorities is critical to fostering a strong research culture—one that supports high-quality, ethical, and compliant research practices. The extent to which an institution embraces the principles of a healthy research culture directly impacts participant safety (both human and non-human) and the integrity of research data. This session will examine findings from a study conducted at a non-research-intensive university to explore how research culture develops and how to identify practical strategies for overcoming barriers to building a supportive and effective research environment.
