Emily E. Anderson, PhD, MPH, is currently a professor in the Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics at Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine. She received her MPH from the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois, and her PhD in healthcare ethics with a certificate in empirical research from Saint Louis University. Dr. Anderson teaches courses on research ethics and empirical bioethics to Master’s and doctoral level students, and directs responsible conduct of research education for faculty, staff, and students in Loyola’s Health Sciences Division. Dr. Anderson’s research focuses on ethical issues in community-based research and in settings of armed conflict, innovative educational strategies for research ethics and human subjects protections, IRB/HRPP quality, and improving informed consent processes. She has almost two decades of experience serving on multiple IRBs both biomedical and behavioral/social science. She has served as a conference speaker for PRIM&R since 2012, was a member of PRIM&R’s Education Committee from 2014-2018, and was co-chair of the AER Poster Abstract Subcommittee from 2016-2020. She is currently a member of PRIM&R’s Board of Directors.
