Julie Marshall, CPIA, CCEP, is the Director of Ethics & Compliance at San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance (SDZWA). She holds a B.A. in Biology: Ecology & Systematics from the University of Northern Iowa and brings more than 20 years of experience at SDZWA, including 15 years specializing in compliance.
Julie is a seasoned ethics and compliance leader with deep expertise in research compliance and animal welfare oversight. Throughout her career, she has advanced institutional adherence to federal and international standards while fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.
In her current role, Julie oversees SDZWA’s research integrity program, including the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Review Board (IRB), Stem Cell Research Oversight Committee (SCRO), and other research oversight bodies, along with broader Ethics & Compliance functions. She also serves as Vice Chair of SDZWA’s IACUC and is a member of the Council for Certified Professionals in IACUC Administration (CCPIA®).
